Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush in 20 Pink Rose REVIEW & SWATCH

Hello world!

A couple months ago I purchased this little beauty from a wonderful shop called Priceline for about $14 on sale, but at full price it is $19.95. Now, a couple weeks ago Priceline had it's biannual 40% off cosmetics sale for two days which was a stellar opportunity to snatch up this product but if you didn't, not to worry because Priceline currently have 30% off Maybelline Products! Woo!

The blush I'm talking about today, the Maybelline Master Hi-Light Blush, which I picked up in the shade 20 Pink Rose, is an absolute winner in my books!

Packaging:
The packaging - comes with a small flat brush and a compacted mirror
I actually love the packaging of this product. It's small, compact, and comes with a small brush and mirror in the bottom compartment. I never use the brush because I use one by Real Techniques but I'm sure they'd all do a similar job.

The product:
The blush comes in four shades - Pink Rose, Light Bronze, Light Coral and Deep Bronze, all of which give a dissimilar pay-off on the skin.

Pink rose is the pinkest shade of the bunch, where the beautiful light pink colour is infused with shimmer that gives a BEAUTIFUL sheen to the skin. The product is more like a powder and applies like a powder to the skin but when swatching it does feel very smooth and creamy.

Swatch - one layer
As you can see, this is far from a matte blush, and definitely adheres to the name which emphasises that it is indeed a 'hi-light blush'. The pigmentation is wonderful as it isn't too intense, so you can build it up as much as you want!
Swatch - two layers
I do not apply this solely the apples of my cheeks, but instead brush it diagonally upwards starting from the apples of my cheeks, essentially placing it in the areas just below where you would usually place your highlighter. I find that doing this helps to emphasise my contour and make my face look more shapely as opposed to looking more rounded.

Summary:
Pros:
  • Pigmentation is quite good
  • Affordable - around $13.96 if you get it at Priceline right now for 30% off
  • Gives your face a youthful glow
  • Versatile colour - would suit anyone
  • Great compact packaging
Cons:
  • None
It's quite apparent that I'm obsessed with this blush so if you're after a product that will give your face a flush of colour and a perfect sheen the most definitely pick this up, especially when it's on sale!
